Netsuite is US Based company with more than 4,600 employees founded in year 1998 in California,USA by Evan Goldberg.  When Netsuite started, it was named as NetLedger, a web hosted Accounting
Software, Later renamed it to Netsuite.Since 1998 Netsuite is truted by more than 40,000 customer and counting. On 28 july 2016, Oracle announce to acquire Netsuite for $9.3 Billion USD.

  Netsuite have APIs called Suite Scripts, Suite Talk and those who write code (but not limited to) using these APIs are Netsuite Developer. 
Suite Talk are web Services provided by Netsuite usually used to connect to other tool And for import and export using Server side languages. 
Suite Scripts are Netsuite APIs with support of javascript. Mostly all javascript code works in Netsuite.
There are 2 type of APIs

1. Suite Script 1.0
2. Suite Script 2.0


Suite talk are mostly used by Server side developers (Java, C# , php etc) and They may or may not have

good Netsuite knowledge. But to Develop Suite Scripts, Developer should have good understanding of Record Types, Scripts, Deployments, File Cabinet, Email Templates , Searches and many more.

 Person can start career from Jr. Netsuite Developer and move up to Netsuite Architect position. If developer have knowledge of SFDC and Boomi etc then he/she can move to integration and Manage both Netsuite as well as SFDC. Market is always open for such candidates and usually well paid.

Career Growth for Functional:

When a business moves to Netsuite from old system, requires people who have better understanding of business, accounting , services etc, people who work on requirement , accounting , business logic are Functional people and called as Netsuite Functional. 
   Netsuite Functional are key point of contact for business to understand and suggest solutions. Admins, Developer and often Manager go for functional position in organization.
   They work with Admins and Developers to achieve result. Netsuite offers lot of functionalities and mostly easy task can be achieve by admins only. If any "out of box" Or "functionality which can not be achieve by admins due to Netsuite limitations" should go to developer.


To become functional you might require few years of experience in Netsuite or in Management , they can grow to any post. In any service based company they can go to any level if they are in Netsuite only.
In product base company if you have knowledge of all tools your department you can grow till director level of department. Constant learning is key  for any role/position.

Career Growth for Admins:

 Netsuite have multiple records, worflows, email templates, searchs , reports Import/Export and those who work on these are Generally positioned as Netsuite Admins. Netsuite Admins work closely with Developers and Functionalpersons to keep Day to Day operation running .
 Netsuite Admins are hign in demands and usually finding good Admin is a pain for HR. As Admins work very closely with functional , developer and sometime with business , they have very good understanding of business logic and can move to Functional role.
