Gaurav Pant's Story

Gaurav's story in his own words:

Hi all,
It was 26 March 2017, when my flight landed from Delhi to Bangalore at late night around 12.30 A.M.
I picked the bus to the electronic city where my friends were already working in big MNCs & stayed with them for next few days.

In same Month, I attended around 5-6 companies interview & surprisingly I cleared all.
Meanwhile, I also attended one of a startup drive who was working in NetSuite Domain, I had no clue what NetSuite was? & they needed one tester & developer. Surprisingly for testing, I was the only applicant & I cleared interview and as they offered to join very same day I was finally in the world of NetSuite.

Initial days in Netsuite?

It was the first day & I was introduced with what NetSuite was? & how it works...
Frankly speaking, I could not understand anything for the complete first month. I was creating  Sales Orders, Purchase Orders but was not knowing what it actually meant? My teammates helped me a lot & cleared my every doubt.

Your First Success?

I soon started creating forms, fields, tab as per clients requirement but honestly speaking, for first 3 months everything was going out of the head.
Soon, with the cooperation of my teammates, I started understanding how NetSuite works when they started giving me real-time(DESI as we say in India)examples.

Next Challenge after initial Success?

I was able to understand Sales Order, Purchase Order, items type etc now but next challenge was PromoStandards API.
I was unable to understand who is supplier & distributors in NetSuite & what endpoints are all about.
While testing API responses, we would make one of our NetSuite accounts behave as Supplier & Other as Distributors but It took me around 2 months to get actual feel what I am working.

What is your Plan/Goal now?

It's too amazing, I am completing 1 year in June 2018 itself.
I see a lot of potential career in NetSuite in coming years but talking about my personal goal,
I have not made any long-term goal.  I am trying my level best to understand more of NetSuite every day .I go to the office & give my best to my daily work.

Who Helped you in this journey?

Abhishek Sharma, a senior member of the team helped me a lot. Even I was not knowing what Invoice meant & all of my teammates were surprised to know that engineering graduate did not know what Invoice is but still they explained me. For last one year, every day when I used to return to my room from office,
I used to feel my NetSuite understanding getting better every day.Abhishek used to explain me everything by taking practical examples.
Mr Prasun Sultania, for whom I am currently working, he recently visited Suiteworld 2018  & after coming back to India, he told us how NetSuite demand is rapidly increasing & many more companies are coming into NetSuite.

Your Advice to Newbie?

Those who are planning for a career in NetSuite, let me be frank ...its boom...
Every day in LinkedIn I see a lot of jobs with very attractive salary
Still there is the scarcity of experts who can work in NetSuite Globally.

How you understand Netsuite and business logic?

Firstly I started understanding what Amazon, Flipkart, Snapdeal is & How they work.
Earlier I used to think I purchase everything from shopping sites but actually, they are only mediator.
It also gave me good ideas, how we can come with more innovative ideas for the Indian market as I see a lot of potential in the Indian market now.

Thanks,
Gaurav

We wish Gaurav all the best for future, keep doing good stuff and inspire people.

Thanks
Netsuite Guru
