Netsuite Tutotials: How to Make a custom field searchable in Global search in Netsuite?

Hi All,

Many times while making fields we want to search by value in it, for example, you have SFDC and Netsuite integration and you are storing SFDC Order ID in Netsuite's Sales Order field. User some times want to search directly as they are able to find the record based on Sales Order number.

So, If you have created field for storing SFDC order number and field is of Free form Text field, then it is very easy to make it searchable in Global search.Just check

Make a field Searchable in Netsuite
Searchable Field in Netsuite.

This feature is not only available for Transaction body field , but you can even make Entity Fields, Item Fields, CRM Fields, and even Custom Record Fields  except for Transaction Column Fields, Item Number Fields, Other Custom Fields and Item Option Fields.

You can set global search only for Freeform Text, Currency, Decimal Numbers, Email Address Only. For all other type of fields it is not allowed.

Example: if you have a field on Sales Order saying SFDC SO# with value SO-121212 , and you want to search it , then go to global search which is available on top middle on Netsuite(between your company logo and you role dropdown), and type SO-121212 and you will see one result in suggestion, there could be multiple if it matches to any other field's value or may be there is also another Netsuite Order with same name.
