Wrong GL impact after enabling MLI

Dear Valued Readers,

Today, I am going to talk about wrong GL impact after enabling MLI (Multi Location Inventory) feature. The very first thing you have to do after enabling this feature is distributing inventory. Make sure that you might not change any transaction date prior to the date of inventory distribution.  If you find out there is something wrong with GL impact of any item, please try to do the following steps.

If you find out any item has wrong GL impact, please do the following steps:

Step 1:  Run Inventory Valuation reports
- Go to Reports > Inventory/Items > Inventory Valuation
- Click on View Details

- Find the item you have concerned about and choose the appropriate date

Currently it is not possible to determine what specific lot numbers were included in the inventory distribution. What you can do is back track all the inventory affecting transactions to determine which lot numbers are remaining at the time of distribution. (Item receipts, Item fulfillment, Assembly Build, etc.)

Step 2: Send the summary of the transaction with lot number and screenshot of costing method of the item to NS support team for reference

In the Item Record under Purchasing/Inventory sub tab, look for Costing Method field.

Step 3: Choose from the 2 following solutions to fix the issue

1. Wait for NS support team to file the defect and fix that defect.
It may take times for them to fix it.
2. Alternate solution (Create 2 inventory adjustments on 2 separate days to avoid inaccurate costing
- Create negative Inventory Adjustment to zero out item and lot numbers
- Create positive Inventory Adjustment to add the item and lot number with the correct lot number cost.

For example, the date of Inventory Distribution is on November 13, you may create the first adjustment (negative adjustment) on November 14. For the second adjustment (positive adjustment), you may date this as November 15.

Hope that this post will help you to figure out the issue quickly.

If you have any concern, please let me know.

Thanks

Bella
