The Basic model of Ethical Decision Making

Hi All,

As a manager or even as a team member, you can see issue and want to make decision. There is basic model of ethical decision making which can help you in making decision easier.
Steps:

1. Identify the problem:
What makes it as ethical problem? Think in terms of rights, obligations, fairness, relationships etc.
How would you define problem if you stood other side of the fence. Consider both sides.
2. Identify the constituents:
Who has been hurts? Who could be hurt? Who could be helped? Are they willing players or victims?
        Can we negotiate with them?
3. Diagnose the situation:
How did it happens in the first place? What could have prevented it? Is it going to be worse or become better? Can the damage now be undone?
4. Analyse your options:
Image range of possibilities. Limit yourself to two or three possibilities. Consider outcome from these possibilities. What are the likely costs? Are they align with the companies mission and code of conduct?
5. Make your choice:
What is your intention in making this decision? How does it compare with the probable results? Can you discuss with related parties before acting on it? Can you disclose your to your boss, CEO or top management , your family or even society without qualm?
6. Act: Do what you have to do. Don’t afraid to make mistakes. Be bold in confronting a problem as you were in causing it.

Always follow these six points while making decision on any issue.
