How to understand your Boss/Manager?

We communicate with others in different means as verbal or writing , sign language and now a days emoji’s also. While communicating you should always know learning style of other person or in other ways you know know your audience. If you know your audience or person with whom you are communicating , you can pass your message easily and clearly.



There are 4 type of learning styles:
1. The Tortoise
    Person who likes a strong theoretical basis.
2. The Philosopher
    Person who learns from practical evidence.
3. The Hare
    Person who prefers to learn from hands-on experience.
4. The Entrepreneur
    Person who is not interested in anything but the bare facts.

There is no good or bad here but different kind of styles. If you know you boss style and adapt to that style, you can become best employee for that person. 

Let’s go deep into details:
 
The Tortoise:
        They have slow and interesting speech.
        No Eye contact and they speak only when spoken to.
        They should not be perceived as “din-witted”
        They like structured information and supporting facts.
        
How to create rapport with the tortoise?
        You should speak slowly
        Do not make eye contact 
        Structure your presentation
        Follow a logical buildup of presentation
        Provide evidence and logical argument in support of your argument.

The Philosopher:
        They are also slow in speed and avoid eye contact.
        They find difficult to ask questions or seek clarifications.
        Similar to the tortoise, they want structured with supporting facts.

How to create rapport with the Philosopher?
        Speak Slowly
        Avoid Eye contact
        Avoid loud gestures and expressions.
        Provide accurate facts and figures in support.
        Provide practical evidence to establish your points.

The Hare:
        Prefer to learn from hands on experience.
        Fast talkers & speak with force (often come across as loud and aggressive)
        Makes prolonged eye-contact & maintains formality
        Like big picture with critical pieces of data for support

How to create rapport with the Hare?
        Maintain eye contact
        Be brief and clearly explained or expressed.
        Speak at faster pace.
        Be direct in your speech. 
        Do not engage with them.

The Entrepreneur:
        Like to see the big picture.
        Direct and forceful but they are not aggressive.
        Like lively presentations with unusual aspects from content.
        Brief and clear presentation with facts.
        
How to make rapport with the Entrepreneur?
        Maintain eye contact.
        Speak at a faster pace and speak clear.
        Use proper Colours and interesting languages/ anecdotes.
        Be enthusiastic and lively.
        always address them by their names.

Please note: There is no good or bad, these are type of personalities and learning style. A good speaker is one who know his/her audience and can communicate accordingly.
